ARCHITECTURE ADVISORY · REVIEW · ROADMAP · SECOND OPINION

Software architecture advice from someone who runs software himself.

Independent architecture review, technical roadmap, a plan for replacing legacy systems – or an assessment of the proposal sitting on your desk. Directly from the senior architect, with a recommendation tailored to your system.

WHEN A REVIEW MAKES SENSE

Typical situations we get called into

history

The system has grown for over ten years and changes should become plannable again.

You get a plan for which parts get replaced and in what order – while operations keep running.

request_quote

A 60,000 € proposal is on the table and you want an independent technical assessment.

We read it with you: what is included, what is project organisation, what is missing – and what a fitting scope costs.

groups

The developers are good, and the architecture needs an owner.

A review shows where structure helps, and a roadmap gives the team decisions it can orient itself by.

alt_route

A migration or platform decision is due and binding for years.

Cloud or own data centre, monolith or services, buy or build: you get a recommendation with reasoning and trade-offs.

Services

Project-based or at a day rate. Scope and price are agreed in writing before we start.

Architecture review

Independent assessment of your existing architecture for scalability, security and maintainability. Result: a written report with prioritised recommendations – and what you can keep as it is.

Technical roadmap

From business goals to the order of technical decisions. For management teams that want to know what the next twelve months of budget are spent on.

Legacy modernisation & migration plan

Step-by-step replacement of legacy systems with a modern, modular architecture – while operations keep running, in plannable steps.

Second opinion on software proposals

You show us the proposal you received. We assess scope, architecture and price structure – regardless of whether you hire us afterwards.

How an architecture review works

  1. 01

    Briefing

30-minute call: what the system does, what hurts, which decision is pending.

  2. 02

    Assessment

Code, data model, infrastructure, interfaces and operations – read access is enough. Conversations with your developers, if there are any.

  3. 03

    Report and recommendation

Written, prioritised, with trade-offs. Discussed in a session with management and engineering.

  4. 04

    Implementation – your decision

You implement with your team, with us, or with someone else. The report is written so that all three work.

Why a review from Cloudwerks

factory

We run software in production ourselves

QuickSelect runs as a B2B SaaS, a white-label app is in the Play Store. We recommend architectures whose consequences we carry ourselves.

menu_book

Our work is publicly verifiable

The OBIE whitepaper shows how we think about distributed systems, threat models and consensus – readable before you hire us.

The report recommends what your system needs

Prioritised and reasoned – and if your architecture holds up, that is exactly what the report says.

Frequently asked questions about architecture advisory

What is an architecture review?

An architecture review is the independent assessment of an existing software architecture for scalability, security, maintainability and operability. At Cloudwerks it is carried out by a senior software architect who gets read access to code and infrastructure and delivers a written report with prioritised recommendations.

What does architecture advisory cost at Cloudwerks?

Project-based or at a day rate, depending on system size and question. Scope and price are agreed in writing after the free 30-minute call. For reference: day rates for senior software architecture and engineering roles in the German market (as of 2026) typically range from 800 to 1,200 €.

Do you need access to our code?

For a solid review, yes – read access to repository, data model and infrastructure configuration is enough. A non-disclosure agreement is a matter of course. For a second opinion on a proposal, the proposal itself is sufficient.

Can you also support our development team?

Yes, as architecture support at a day rate: reviews of designs, decisions on interfaces and data models, regular office hours. What is included are the architecture decisions; implementation stays with your team – we give it the decisions it is missing.

What if you recommend building with you after the review?

That can happen if an MVP Sprint is the fastest route. The report is deliberately written so that your team or another provider can implement it just as well. You are free to decide how to continue.

NEXT STEP

Describe the situation. You get an assessment.

30 minutes with the architect. You describe the system and the pending decision, we tell you what we would examine and what it costs – an assessment you can also implement with another provider.
